Ho‘okūkū Kīkā Kila
The Hawaiian Steel Guitar Contest

Ho‘okūkū Kīkā Kila ("Steel Guitar Contest") is a Hawaiian steel guitar contest held annually as a part of Waikīkī Steel Guitar Week.

The event serves both as a competition and as an educational initiative, helping to promote and perpetuate the legacy of the Hawaiian steel guitar to all generations.

The event is produced by HIMELE and the Royal Hawaiian Center in association with Ke Kula Mele School of Hawaiian Music. Major underwriting is provided by the Royal Hawaiian Center and the Festival Companies.

The 1^st annual contest was held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 with cash and equipment prizes awarded to the winners of each contest division.
